Can Elon Musk run for vice president?

Elon is a South African born naturalized US citizen. His mother is Canadian, and his father is South African. Therefore, Elon Musk is not a natural-born US citizen.

We know that Elon Musk can’t run for President. It’s because there are three mandatory criteria according to US constitution1 Article II, section 1, for a person to be US president. To be eligible, he or she must be a natural-born US citizen, US resident for 14 years, and at least 35 years old.

Therefore, according to these constitutional laws, Elon Musk can’t run for the US presidency unless the senate and the current or future President change the constitution.

Here are the constitutional laws.

Article II, Section I, Clause VI, of the US constitution2 states that “In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.”

Moreover, according to the 25th constitutional amendment3, section 1, “In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.”

So, can Elon Musk run for Vice President?

In the US, the Vice president doesn’t run for office. The President appoints the vice president. Therefore, before the election, the President chooses his/her running mate, who will become the United States of America’s vice president. If the President wins by getting 270 electoral college votes, the President appoints his/her running mate as vice president.

So, can Elon Musk become Vice President?

According to the 12th amendment of the US constitution4, “But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.”

As Elon Musk is ineligible to become a US president, according to the 12th amendment of the US constitution, it makes him ineligible for Vice President. Therefore, constitutionally Elon Musk can’t become a vice president or the US President.

However, Elon can become the governor of a state. But we highly doubt he will ever run for a governor office.

How to become like Elon Musk?

The first step to being like Elon Musk is to know more about him. We should read Elon Musk’s biography. There are various books we can buy from Amazon. However, the following three books are a must-read regarding Elon Musk.

Do you know who wrote the 3rd book? Maye Musk, Elon Musk’s mother. However, the first book is the most important one.

US politics is vicious. Name-calling, digging past dirt is typical. If Elon decides to become governor, he will face several issues along the way.

US and China are at odds for the last few decades. China is trying to dominate the world by any means. Elon already has a Tesla factory in China, and he does not want to lose business there. China is essential to Tesla’s growth.

Elon obsesses over Climate change and the preservation of humanity. If he becomes governor, he will face several climate issues regarding China.

China is one of the most earth polluting countries in the world. It does not matter whether it is air or ocean. When all other countries are abandoning their coal power plant, China increases the number of Coal power plants in their country.

Therefore, as a governor, Elon either has to put a blind eye to these issues or take action against China from his power. However, if Elon takes environmental action, his company Tesla will face severe china consequences.

Elon profoundly cares about the environment. There’s no way he will allow his company to fail. Elon previously said that he is the first to put money into Tesla; he will be the last person to take money out of Tesla.

Not everyone likes Elon Musk. Over the years, his various activities have created many opponents. Therefore, we highly doubt Elon will ever run for any government office.

In conclusion, unless there is a constitutional amendment regarding the US presidency or vice presidency, Elon can’t become a vice president.
