Can I Zoom on my Samsung TV?

We all know that Zoom is convenient for online meetings. We have used it on phones and our PC’s. However, on some occasions, we feel the need to use the Zoom on our Samsung TV. This question frequently comes up in our mind, “Can I Zoom on my Samsung TV?”. The answer to this question is both Yes and No.

To use Zoom on any device, we need the Zoom app. Android, iPhone, or PC all have its Zoom app. Unfortunately, there is no Zoom app for Samsung TV, and we can’t install the Zoom app on our Samsung TV. So, the answer is, we can’t use the Zoom on our Samsung smart TV directly.

However, there are some alternatives to this problem, as discussed below.

Solution 1: Use your Samsung TV as your Laptop or PC monitor.

Did you know that you can use your Samsung TV as a monitor for your Laptop or PC? To do it, all you need an HDMI cable. Order a cheap but good HDMI cable from Amazon. Connect your Laptop to Samsung TV with the HDMI cable. You can set up your TV as a primary or secondary monitor from your Laptop’s display settings. If you want, you can also order an excellent USB webcam with a microphone from Amazon similar to this one https://amzn.to/34TDJLQ. Place that webcam on top of your TV.

Now set up Zoom on your Laptop, and use your TV as a display.

Solution 2: Screen Mirroring.

If the first solution is not a viable option for you, then you can use this method described here.

Samsung Android Phones:

Download the Samsung Smart View app from the Google Play store. Now mirror your phone screen to your Samsung TV with the help of the Samsung Smart View app. This is one of the easiest and seamless solutions to mirror your phone screen on a Samsung TV. However, Samsung is notorious for poor software. Their software does not work most of the time. Numerous times I failed to connect my phone to Samsung TV with the Smart View app. So, if this solution is a failure for you, follow another solution.

iPhone:

First, try the Samsung Smart View app. If it does not work, then you could try to mirror your iPhone screen with Apple TV hardware. But this is an expensive solution to use the Zoom only.

Screen Mirroring from iPhone to Samsung Smart TV
Screen Mirroring from iPhone to Samsung Smart TV

Here is a piece of good news. Newer Samsung TV’s such as the Q series can mirror your iPhone screen. Just select the “Screen Mirroring” from the iPhone notification panels. You will be able to see a list of devices for your iPhone screen mirroring options.

For example, in my case, I see “Apple TV” and “Samsung Q60 Series” TV. If I select the “Samsung Q60 Series”, my iPhone screen would mirror on the Samsung TV.

Google Chrome Cast:

The price of Google chrome cast is way less than Apple TV. You can connect the Google chrome cast to your TV HDMI port and use the Google Home app for mirroring your phone screen onto your TV. This way you can use Zoom on your phone and Use your TV as a big screen. This solution works both for Android phones and iPhones.

Screen mirroring with MHL Cable:

Here is a very less known solution in the Tech community. An MHL cable can mirror your phone screen to your Samsung TV.

An MHL cable has one end with USB C / Micro USB / Lightning port and another end with an HDMI port. Here is an example of an MHL cable from Amazon. If you have an iPhone, you need this type of adapter. Connect one end of your MHL cable to your phone, and another HDMI end to your Samsung TV HDMI port. Your phone screen would show up on the TV.

Mirroring Phone Screen by other means:

There are other apps that can mirror your phone screen to your TV. But those solution is not straight forward that involves lots of steps. If the solution’s benefit is not more than the solution’s difficulty itself, then that solution is not a solution. That’s why I’m not explaining those in this article.
