Coinbase is the most popular and trusted US-based crypto exchange. A lot of cryptocurrencies available on this platform for trading. Unfortunately, Coinbase does not offer Dogecoin for trading. Nonetheless, customers can view Dogecoin’s market price, trading volume, historical trading data, market cap, etc., on Coinbase for educational purposes.
Coinbase also has no plan to add Doge to its platform. Many in the crypto industry consider Dogecoin a joke and look down on it. Coinbase executives don’t like this crypto. Thus, they don’t have any interest in the foreseeable future to add this coin to this platform.
Many so-called crypto experts say that Doge was started as a joke, and it should be treated as such. However, we strongly disagree. Bitcoin, too, was started as a proof of concept, and no one took it seriously until its price started going up. Even though Coinbase is not taking Doge seriously, after a few years, its price will explode. By excluding this crypto, Coinbase is missing a lot of customers’ business.
Doge is one of the most popular cryptos globally and has the second-largest crypto community after Bitcoin. By omitting Doge, they are expressing their prejudice.
If you want to buy Dogecoin, you have to go to another crypto exchange or platform. You can purchase Dogecoin through Robinhood, Kraken, Binance, Bittrex, or Crypto.com.
Please remember that Dogecoin’s ticker symbol is either “DOGE” or “XDG.” For example, Robinhood uses DOGE, whereas Kraken uses XDG.
The easiest way to purchase DOGE is through Robinhood. However, we don’t recommend it. It’s because Robinhood does not allow you access to your coins. You can buy and sell DOGE, but you can’t use those coins online; you can’t send them to someone else or your crypto wallet. There’s a term in the crypto world, “Not Your Wallet, Not Your Coin.”
If an exchange does not allow you to purchase DOGE with USD, there’s a workaround. You can buy Bitcoin, Litecoin, or other cryptos on Coinbase. Then transfer your coin to your preferred exchange that supports Dogecoin. Then use the transferred crypto to purchase DOGE.
Whichever crypto exchange you use to buy Dogecoin, please don’t leave it on the exchange if you are a long-term holder. Transfer those coins to your offline wallet for security.
