Taycan vs. Tesla: 9 Free Things Only In Tesla

Porsche Taycan vs. Tesla - free only in Tesla vehicle.

In this Porsche Taycan vs. Tesla article, we are going to learn 9 things that come free in a Tesla vehicle but paid add-on on a Porsche Taycan.

Taycan is Porsche’s first all-electric vehicle. It’s starting base price is $103,800 and goes all the way up to $185,000, whereas Tesla’s performance Model S costs only $99,990.

Considering this high price of Taycan, we do expect many free stuff. But to our disappointment, Taycan does not even come with basic stuff such as a free charging cable.

1. Unlimited  Free Supercharging:

Every Tesla Model S and Model X comes with free unlimited supercharging. If your vehicle is your main daily drive, then you would save more than $13,000 on charging costs over 100,000 miles driving. In this article, we have calculated the cost.

Porsche Taycan does not come with any free charging credit. Either you have to charge at home, or you have to use a public charging network.

2. Folding Side Mirror:

Every Tesla, including performance Model 3 has auto-dimming, power-folding, heated side mirrors.

Whereas, Porsche charges $330 for its electrically folding side mirrors in Taycan.

3. Heated Seats and Steering Wheel:

Every Tesla comes with standard cold-weather features such as heated seats for every passenger, heated steering wheel, wiper blade defrosters, and washer nozzle heaters.

Porsche charges $280 for heated steering wheel and $530 for front and back heated seats.

4. Charging Cables:

Every Tesla, including the $35,000 base Model 3, comes with a free mobile charging package. This package includes –

  • 20 feet mobile connector cable.
  • NEMA 5-15 adapter for standard 120-volt outlets
  • SAE J1772 adapter for public charging stations.
  • Cabel organizing bags.

Porsche Taycan also comes with a mobile connector package. The price of this package is $1,120. The deselection of this option is not possible as this is a standard option. This kit includes –

  • 25 feet charging cable.
  • 1 NEMA 6-30 adapter.
  • 1 NEMA 6-50 adapter.
  • 1 NEMA 14-30 adapter.

Tesla sells each of these NEMA adapters for $35 on its website.

5. Seating Capacity of 5:

Every Tesla vehicle has a default seating capacity of 5 people.

On the other hand, Porsche Taycan, by default, is a 4 seater. For the rear compartment with two individual seats outside left and right and one center seat, you need to pay $480 to Porsche.

6. Advanced Cruise Control:

All new Tesla cars come standard with driver assistance features such as emergency braking, collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. Tesla calls it Autopilot. This Autopilot also enables your car to steer, accelerate, and brake automatically for other vehicles and pedestrians within its lane.

The closest technology to Autopilot in Taycan is “Porsche InnoDrive, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).” However, Porsche charges $3,610 for this feature.

7. Full Glass Panoramic Roof:

Every Tesla Model 3, Model S, and Model X comes with a standard panoramic tinted glass roof with ultraviolet and infrared protection, whereas Porsche charges you $1,490 for this feature. Unfortunately, the deselection of this option is not possible as this is a standard option for Porsche Taycan.

8. Adaptive Lighting System:

The low beam light system which rotates according to the steering wheel rotation (or angle) is known as “Dynamic Cornering Light” for Porsche and “Adaptive Front Lighting System” for Tesla.

The high beam light system, which turns off the high beam automatically when it detects an oncoming vehicle and turns it on when there is no oncoming vehicle, is known as “High Beam Assist” for Porsche, and “Auto High Beam” for Tesla.

This dynamic lighting system is free on every Tesla Model S and Model X. Whereas, you have to pay a minimum of $1,970 to get this in a Porsche Taycan.

9. Range Manager:

According to Porsche, the Intelligent Range Manager adjusts the maximum speed as well as the air conditioning to minimize charging and journey time with maximum comfort base on route. Porsche Intelligent Range Manager costs $300.

Tesla provides all these features named as “Trip Planner” for free.
